Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default. At Proton, we believe that privacy is a fundamental human right and the cornerstone of democracy. Since our inception in 2014, we have dedicated ourselves to providing free and open-source technology to millions worldwide, ensuring access to privacy, security, and freedom online.

Our journey began with Proton Mail, the largest secure email service globally, and has since expanded to include Proton VPN, Proton Calendar, Proton Drive, and Proton Pass. These tools empower individuals and organizations to take control of their personal data, break away from Big Tech's invasive practices, and defeat censorship. Our work impacts hundreds of millions of lives, from activists on the front lines defending freedom to leaders in governments protecting sensitive information.

Proton is a profitable company that does not rely upon VC funding, supporting over 100 million user accounts with a growing team of over 500 people from over 50 different countries. We value intelligence, learning potential, and ambition in our hiring process. Adaptability is key as we navigate uncharted territories and redefine how business is conducted online.

Hiring at Proton is highly selective, with less than 1% of candidates hired. We believe smaller teams of exceptional talent will always prevail over larger teams with lower talent density. You will have the opportunity to work with many of the world’s top minds.

What we are looking for:

  • Project & Program Management Expertise: Proven track record in building and executing detailed project plans, schedules, and risk management frameworks. Experience driving stakeholder alignment and managing communication with both technical teams and executive leadership. Strong ability to decompose complex projects into structured, actionable workstreams (epics, stories, tasks, bugs).
  • Technical Tooling & Jira Mastery: Deep expertise in Jira fundamentals, including workflow design, management, and optimization. Proficiency in writing advanced JQL queries to extract project insights (velocity, throughput, efficiency). Experience implementing process improvements within Jira and other workflow/project management tools.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong background in enforcing operational discipline β€” ensuring meetings result in actionable next steps with ownership and deadlines. Skilled in rigorous documentation of decisions, changes, and outcomes to maintain project knowledge continuity. Proactive risk identification and mitigation, with a track record of resolving blockers and maintaining momentum.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage resources, and reallocate priorities to meet evolving business needs. Strong resource management instincts: identifying skill gaps or bandwidth constraints and coordinating solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, adapting messaging for both engineers and executives.
  • Background & Experience: 7–10+ years of project or program management experience in a technology or engineering-driven environment. Experience in Payments, finance or fintech. Prior experience managing software development projects, preferably within Agile/Scrum frameworks. Familiarity with scaling project management practices across distributed or fast-growing teams.

Even if you don’t meet all the requirements listed above, but feel you could still be a great fit, please still apply.
