Using CAMWorks/Mastercam/SolidWorks models as well as our range of Haas CNC machines, you’ll create efficient toolpaths, optimise setups, and deliver high‑quality parts to tight deadlines.

What Will You Do

  • Set up and run CNC mills and lathes, delivering parts to tight tolerances.
  • Create, verify, and approve CNC milling programs (CAMWorks/Mastercam from SolidWorks), optimizing for quality, cost, and tooling; generate CAM from CAD/prints/verbal input.
  • Read blueprints and apply GD&T; inspect parts and make quality decisions.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Supervisors, Estimators, Quality, and customers to clarify requirements, fix documentation issues, and troubleshoot production problems.
  • Manage job flow, materials, and quick‑turn deadlines to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on machines and shop equipment.
  • Follow Protolabs processes, quality, safety, and 5S standards; escalate issues appropriately; perform other duties as needed.

What It Takes

  • Multiple years’ experience within CNC machining with both online and offline programming exposure
  • Knowledge of machining in a prototype manufacturing setting or related experience and education.
  • Familiarity with the tools of the trade; Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, CamWorks, Mastercam.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments such as protractors, calipers, height gauges.
  • Ability to interpret and explain written and statistical data.
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work effectively.
  • Highly developed, demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contribution while being cost-sensitive.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.

  • Employee Discount scheme with savings across thousands of UK retailers.
  • Employee wellbeing culture with mental health support, wellbeing portal, and psychologist assistance.
  • Monetary-based Reward Schemes for recognition, referrals, anniversaries, and life events.
  • 37.5 hours per week, permanent contract with regular breaks – day shift.
  • 25 days holiday entitlement plus Bank Holidays, increasing with length of service.
  • Life insurance policy for eligible employees – 4 x base salary.
