An FE College in Rotherham is seeking a proactive and customer-focused Sports Duty Officer to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about sport, fitness, and delivering high-quality services within a busy Further Education environment. This role is predominantly evening and weekend-based, working on a rota to support the smooth operation of the Sports Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Management
    • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Sports Centre
    • Ensure the smooth transition and coordination of facility bookings and schedules
    • Lead the secure opening and closing of the facilities
  • Health & Safety
    • Maintain high standards of health and safety across all areas
    • Carry out routine checks, risk assessments, and equipment inspections
    • Ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and community users
  • Staff Leadership
    • Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to the operational team
    • Motivate staff to deliver an excellent customer experience
    • Support the delivery of sports activities and events
  • Customer Service
    • Deliver a welcoming and professional service to all users of the facilities
    • Respond effectively to incidents and provide first aid when required

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused
  • Experienced in a sports, leisure, or fitness environment
  • A confident communicator with strong organisational skills
  • Able to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in a sport or leisure-related subject
  • Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification
  • Full First Aid at Work certificate (or willingness to achieve whilst in post)
