We are currently recruiting for a Further Education Director of Maths and English on behalf of a leading Further Education College. This is an exciting senior leadership opportunity for an experienced education professional to lead and develop the College's Maths and English provision, ensuring outstanding learner outcomes, strong progression rates and an exceptional student experience.

Reporting to the Executive Director of EPYP, you will provide strategic leadership across curriculum, quality, teaching and learning, driving a culture of high expectations, innovation and continuous improvement. You will lead managers and curriculum teams to deliver a responsive and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of learners, employers and the wider community while supporting the College's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and management of the College's Maths and English provision.
• Drive improvements in attendance, retention, achievement, progression, value-added and distance-travelled measures.
• Lead on the development, implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and quality improvement processes.
• Promote excellence in teaching, learning and assessment across all curriculum areas.
• Embed the effective use of learner performance data to inform planning, intervention and continuous improvement.
• Provide College-wide leadership for English and mathematics, ensuring these are effectively embedded throughout the curriculum.
• Develop innovative and engaging curriculum offers that support learner progression and meet local and national priorities.
• Lead curriculum business planning, recruitment strategies and resource allocation to ensure financial sustainability and growth.
• Support managers to develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Work collaboratively with employers, stakeholders, governing bodies and external partners to enhance curriculum delivery and student opportunities.
• Contribute as a proactive member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the College's strategic direction and objectives.

Must have:

• Significant leadership and management experience within Further Education.
• Experience leading English, Maths or related curriculum areas.
• A proven track record of raising standards, improving student outcomes and driving quality improvement.
• Strong experience of curriculum planning, self-assessment, quality assurance and inspection preparation.
• Excellent understanding of FE funding, performance measures and curriculum accountability.
• The ability to analyse complex data and use it to drive performance and inform strategic decisions.
• Experience of managing budgets, resources and curriculum growth.
• Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience of developing and supporting managers and curriculum teams to achieve ambitious targets.
• A teaching qualification and relevant degree-level qualification.
• DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
