The Protocol Group is working with a client in South Yorkshire seeking a proactive and dedicated Engineering Technician (Fabrication & Welding) to support the delivery of practical engineering programmes and help develop the next generation of skilled engineers.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with industry experience who enjoys a hands‑on environment and wants to play a key role in maintaining high‑quality workshop facilities, supporting learners, and contributing to the continued development of our Engineering provision.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up equipment, materials and resources for practical lessons, assessments and demonstrations.
• Support tutors and students during workshop sessions, ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
• Maintain machinery, equipment and workshop facilities to a high standard.
• Distribute and monitor tools, consumables and equipment.
• Manage stock levels and order replacement materials where required.
• Ensure workshops remain clean, organised and compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Support departmental projects and collaborate with colleagues across different curriculum areas.
• Assist with workshop security and report any loss or damage of equipment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience working within the Fabrication & Welding industry.
• A Level 2 qualification or above in a relevant Fabrication & Welding discipline.
• A strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A positive, team‑focused approach and a passion for supporting learners.
• Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to work towards these qualifications).
