The Role
Successful candidates will support learners with a variety of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- ADHD
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Behavioural and Emotional Challenges
Responsibilities may include:
- Delivering engaging and personalised learning programmes.
- Teaching and supporting students on a 1:1 basis or within small groups.
- Adapting lesson content to meet individual learning needs.
- Building positive relationships with students, families and support staff.
- Monitoring progress and contributing to educational outcomes.
- Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as an SEN Teacher and/or SEN Tutor.
- Experience supporting learners with additional educational needs.
- Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication, behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience working within an Alternative Provision, PRU, Specialist School, or SEMH setting.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills, GCSE, vocational, or intervention programmes.
- Team Teach, MAPA, or other relevant behaviour management training.
