Location: Bolton College

Term: Temporary - until 3rd July 2026

Hours: 15-20 hours per week

Pay Rate: £22.68 - £28.00 per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)

Start Date: ASAP

DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS will be required for this role

Position Overview

Bolton Talent Solutions, in partnership with Bolton College, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Dressmaking Tutor to deliver high‑quality teaching to Level 2 learners. You will deliver both practical and theoretical sessions across a variety of dressmaking and garment construction topics. This role is ideal for someone with strong industry sewing and pattern‑cutting skills, creativity, and a commitment to supporting learners as they develop technical competence and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high‑quality lessons for Level 2 Dressmaking learners
  • Teach core skills such as:
  • Sewing machine operation and maintenance
  • Garment construction techniques
  • Pattern reading, adaptation, and drafting basics
  • Fabric selection and handling
  • Finishing techniques and garment fitting
  • Support learners in producing assessed dressmaking projects and portfolios
  • Ensure sessions meet awarding‑body requirements and learning outcomes
  • Provide constructive feedback and monitor learner progress
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and safe workshop environment
  • Contribute to planning, marking, and programme administration
  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and equality and diversity standards
  • Key Requirements

    • Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, AET/PTLLS) or willingness to work towards one
    • Level 3 or above qualification in Dressmaking, Fashion/Textiles, or a related discipline
    • Strong technical dressmaking skills, including pattern work and garment construction
    • Experience teaching or delivering skills workshops (FE, adult learning, community learning, or similar)
    • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
