Location: South London Prison
Salary: From Β£35,000 + London Weighting Allowance
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Quality & Learning Manager to support the delivery of high-quality education within a prison environment.

Working closely with the Education Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of teaching, learning and assessment while supporting tutors to achieve excellent outcomes for learners. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by helping individuals develop the skills, confidence and qualifications needed for a positive future.

The Role

As Assistant Quality & Learning Manager, you will support curriculum delivery across a range of educational programmes, including Functional Skills, Personal and Social Development and vocational training.

You will take ownership of quality assurance and improvement activities, ensuring teaching standards remain high and that performance targets are achieved. The role also involves coaching and supporting teaching staff, driving innovation and embedding best practice across the education provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management and development of curriculum programmes.
  • Lead on quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor the quality of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Conduct observations and provide constructive feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support tutors to improve learner engagement, achievement and progression.
  • Analyse performance data and implement improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote innovative teaching approaches and best practice.
  • Contribute to creating a positive and learner-focused environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification.
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Significant teaching and learning experience.
  • Experience supporting curriculum development and quality improvement.
  • Knowledge of education quality assurance processes.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or managing teaching staff.
  • Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach.

Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence and access to your own transport are essential.
