In this Youth Mentor role, you support young people with SEND and SEMH to build confidence and skills. You will mentor individuals and small groups, helping them navigate personal and educational development within a collaborative school-based setting. You’ll work with teachers, families, and external professionals to implement personalised support, focusing on emotional regulation and positive decision-making. Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to young people with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and positive social skills
  • Help individuals overcome barriers to learning and personal development
  • Encourage positive decision-making, goal setting, and self-belief
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, families, and external professionals to implement personalised support plans
  • Deliver targeted interventions and activities focused on emotional regulation and behaviour management

Key requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to build trust and rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working with SEND or SEMH students in mentoring, youth work, education, or support roles (desirable)
