We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with a variety of additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure all pupils receive the guidance, structure, and encouragement they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with special educational needs (ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, learning disabilities).
  • Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning programmes.
  • Adapt classroom materials and activities to meet pupils’ individual needs.
  • Support behaviour management using positive and inclusive strategies.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist pupils with personal care tasks where required (training can be provided).
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents/carers, external specialists, and other staff.
  • Encourage pupils’ independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Support inclusion by helping pupils participate fully in classroom and school activities.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children, ideally in an SEN setting (preferred but not always required).
  • Understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive practice.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths; Level 2 or 3 TA/SEN qualification is an advantage.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training, including safeguarding.
  • Enhanced DBS check required.

Working Hours & Salary

  • Typically Monday–Friday, term-time only.
  • Salary depending on experience and school pay structure.
