Whether you’re refining your craft or finding your feet, you’ll be backed by experienced colleagues and clear structures that let you focus on what you do best, teaching great lessons.
The role involves:
- Delivering engaging, well-planned DT lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop practical skills, creativity, problem-solving, and confidence.
- Planning and delivering high-quality Food DT lessons aligned to the curriculum.
- Creating a positive, inclusive learning environment where students feel safe to experiment and learn.
- Using a range of teaching strategies and technologies to maintain pace, challenge, and engagement.
- Differentiating effectively to meet the needs of all learners.
- Tracking progress and using assessment to inform next steps.
- Working collaboratively within the department to keep teaching creative and consistent.

- A genuine enthusiasm for Design & Technology and practical learning.
- The ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
- A reflective approach and a willingness to develop your practice.
- Commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for every learner.
What you’ll get through Protocol Education:
- Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies.
- FREE access to our online CPD Academy.
- Ongoing support from a dedicated, local consultant.
- Opportunities in supportive schools that match your values.
- A smooth, straightforward registration process.
If you’re an ECT, this is a great chance to start your career in a department that understands the importance of support, mentoring, and confidence-building. If you’re experienced, it’s a chance to put your expertise to work in a school that values what you bring.
