Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Sutton Location: England, Greater London, Sutton Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time 8:30-15:30 Primary Industry: Education and Training Salary: £83.85 – £100 Per day Benefits: PAYE Job Description: We are currently seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our schools in Sutton. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a classroom setting. Key responsibilities include: Providing support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Assisting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their learning and development Managing challenging behaviour effectively Supporting the teacher in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment Required Qualifications: A relevant qualification/experience in Special Educational Needs or Teaching Assistant You will need to have an enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service OR you can apply for one through Protocol (at a cost of £38) Education: A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths Experience: Prior experience working with students with SEN, or personal experience Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of SEMH and ASD Ability to manage challenging behaviour Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Psychology Degrees Education studies Working Conditions: This role involves working full-time hours in a school setting (8:30-15:30), supporting students with SEN. The candidate must be able to adapt to different learning styles and provide individualised support as needed. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
