Protocol Education is working in partnership with a number of secondary schools across North Somerset to provide reliable day-to-day classroom cover; schools in convenient locations to you. Whether you're seeking a permanent role in education, or flexible cover around studies, this is a pathway into education that is full of opportunity for full or part-time work. Driving is valued for this role to expand your opportunities in different schools in your area. You do not need prior school experience, teaching qualifications or specialist training. All necessary training is provided free of charge. The ideal candidates are confident, friendly, outgoing, and able to build rapport quickly with young people.

What is the role? As an Unqualified Supply Teacher / Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students complete set work
  • Maintain a calm, structured and positive classroom environment
  • Support students to remain engaged and on task
  • Follow school behaviour policies and established routines

You are not expected to teach new material. The focus of the role is strong classroom presence, behaviour management and ensuring continuity of learning.

Working pattern:

  • Flexible working from 2 to 5 days per week
  • Opportunities for short-term, long-term and full-time placements
  • Immediate start dates available, including full-time roles in BS1 and BS3
  • Mixture of pre-booked and same-day (morning call) work
  • Schools matched to your preferred locations where possible

WHAT DO WE NEED TO CLEAR YOU:

  • Passport
  • 2 proofs of address (e.g. driving license, utility bill, council tax, P45/60)
  • CV covering 10 years of all work/education, with gaps accounted for
  • 2 years of references (including childcare if applicable)
  • OSPC if you lived overseas for 3 months or more in the last 5 years

Pay: £100 per day paid weekly / £500 per week for full-time (paid weekly through PAYE). All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
