About the Role
We are looking for a caring and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist school in Newcastle. The role involves teaching pupils aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. You will design and deliver creative, multi-sensory lessons that celebrate every small step of progress, helping pupils grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning styles and needs
- Support emotional and social development through positive behaviour strategies
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver individual education plans (IEPs)
- Monitor and assess progress, maintaining regular contact with parents and carers
- Contribute to a caring, inclusive, and inspiring school environment
Person Specification
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
- Passionate about SEND teaching, ideally with experience in autism education
- Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
- Positive, flexible approach and genuine commitment to pupil wellbeing
- Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and SEND legislation
