We are working with an Ofsted-rated Good school with fantastic Sixth Form provision where the Maths department is well-established, results are strong, and staff are fully supported by an experienced leadership team.
As Second in Charge of Mathematics, you will have the opportunity to combine teaching with leadership responsibilities, developing curriculum, mentoring colleagues, and driving forward excellence in maths.
What you will be doing:
- Teaching Mathematics across KS3 - KS5, including A-Level
- Assisting the Head of Department in leading curriculum planning and development
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the department
- Tracking student progress and leading intervention strategies
- Helping to maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and achievement
- Mentoring and supporting colleagues, including ECTs and non-specialists teaching Maths
- Leading on strategies to raise achievement and close attainment gaps
- Contributing to departmental development plans and whole-school improvement priorities
- Playing an active role in extra-curricular activities (e.g. Maths clubs, competitions, enrichment events)
What we are looking for:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) with a strong background in Mathematics
- Experience teaching up to GCSE (A-Level desirable)
- Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate staff and students
- Ambition to progress in leadership and shape the future of the department
- Must have more than 2 years of experience working within UK secondary schools
