We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Safeguarding Officer to join our pastoral and inclusion team. This is a vital role within the school, ensuring the safety, welfare and protection of all students, and supporting the wider safeguarding culture across the organisation.

About the Role

As Safeguarding Officer, you will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), senior leaders and external agencies to support vulnerable students, respond to concerns, and ensure robust safeguarding processes are followed at every stage. You will play a key part in maintaining accurate records, delivering staff guidance, and promoting a safe, supportive environment for all children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a first point of contact for safeguarding concerns raised by staff or students
  • Support the DSL in managing referrals, risk assessments and multi‑agency communication
  • Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records in line with statutory guidance
  • Liaise effectively with parents/carers, social care, health services and other partners
  • Monitor attendance, behaviour and wellbeing indicators to identify vulnerable pupils
  • Assist in the delivery of safeguarding training and updates for staff
  • Contribute to safeguarding audits, policy reviews and compliance checks
  • Promote a positive safeguarding culture across the school

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a safeguarding, pastoral, social care or inclusion role (school‑based experience desirable)
  • Strong understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education and wider safeguarding legislation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues professionally
  • Confident in managing challenging situations with calmness, empathy and clarity
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping
  • Ability to work effectively with multi‑agency partners
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professional conduct
