You’re not “just” a TA. And this role makes sure you never feel like one. We’re working with a welcoming school that’s looking for a calm, kind, and confident SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils who need a little extra help to feel safe, settled, and ready to learn. This is a role where relationships matter, progress is celebrated in small wins, and your presence genuinely changes a child’s day. If you’re the type of person who notices the quiet wins, keeps cool when things get tricky, and knows that trust comes before learning, you’ll fit right in.

What the role looks like day to day:

  • Supporting pupils with SEND, either 1:1 or in small groups
  • Helping children with needs such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language, or learning difficulties
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual support plans
  • Creating a calm, consistent environment where pupils feel understood
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
  • Being that steady, reassuring adult when emotions run high

The kind of person schools are hoping for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, in schools or other settings
  • A patient, empathetic approach and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Confidence supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
  • A genuine interest in helping children thrive, not just get through the day
  • Reliability, warmth, and a good sense of humour, schools love someone who brings calm energy
  • Formal qualifications are great, but attitude, empathy, and consistency matter just as much.

What you’ll get through Protocol Education:

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies
  • A dedicated consultant who actually listens and matches you to the right schools
  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy
  • Opportunities across mainstream, SEND, and specialist settings
  • Long-term roles where you can really build relationships
  • Clear communication and support, you’re never left guessing

Bonus question, are you Thrive trained? If not, we offer free Thrive training to our educators. Schools love it, pupils benefit from it, and it’s a brilliant way to strengthen your SEND skillset. If you want a role where your patience, care, and consistency are genuinely valued, this could be a lovely next step.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
