1:1 Tutor / Qualified Teacher supporting permanently excluded students in Redcar. Looking for a role where you can slow things down, focus on one young person, and see the difference you’re making every single session? We’re working closely with a local authority in Redcar who are looking for qualified teachers and experienced tutors to support pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education. This is meaningful, 1:1 work with students who need consistency, trust, and someone firmly in their corner.
About the role:
- You’ll be delivering 1:1 sessions in core subjects, mainly Maths and English, to pupils who may have SEND, be looked after, or have experienced barriers to school attendance.
- You’ll be part of an established, multi-agency team around the child, working alongside professionals such as social workers and educational psychologists.
- Sessions typically range from 1 to 5 hours per day, depending on each student’s needs.
- This role offers flexible hours, often involving multiple students and repeat sessions, allowing you to build meaningful relationships while shaping your workload.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification.
- Can build strong, positive relationships with young people.
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs.
- Is confident delivering Maths/English and other subjects on a 1:1 basis.
- Cares deeply about re-engaging students who’ve had a tough time with education.
- Is comfortable working collaboratively with other professionals involved in a child’s care and education.
