Some pupils need a little extra. You bring a lot more. We’re working with a brilliant specialist school in Newcastle that supports children with autism and physical disabilities. They’re looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and help create a learning environment that’s safe, supportive, and genuinely joyful. This is the kind of role where no two days are the same—but every day matters.
Your role will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for children with ASC, ADHD, and physical needs
- Helping to implement IEPs and adapting learning materials to suit individual needs
- Supporting social development and positive behaviour strategies
- Assisting with personal care and using the school’s hydropool to support sensory and physical development
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other TAs as part of a caring, collaborative team
What we’re looking for:
- Experience supporting children with autism and ADHD (personal experience welcome!)
- Someone patient, nurturing, and great at reading the room
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Confidence to support physical needs and personal care with sensitivity and professionalism
Nice to have:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or Nursery Nurse equivalent)
- Previous experience in a school or nursery setting
