We’re working with a welcoming primary school in the BS11 area looking for a calm, resilient Learning Support Assistant to join their Year 6 team for Term 6. You’ll be supporting one pupil on a 1:1 basis as they prepare for their transition into a specialist setting in September. This role needs someone who can be a steady hand when things feel a little wobbly. Someone who can set clear boundaries, stay calm under pressure, and come back each day ready with a fresh start. You’ll be the person helping a child feel safe, understood, and supported through an important stage of their journey. What your days could look like: • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil • Building trust and positive routines • Supporting emotional wellbeing and helping regulate challenging moments • Using a firm but fair approach to maintain boundaries • Working closely with school staff to create consistency and stability This role could be a great fit if you: ✔ Have experience supporting children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour ✔ Understand that behaviour is communication ✔ Stay calm and objective in difficult situations ✔ Can build relationships while maintaining clear expectations ✔ Have a good sense of humour, because some days call for one The pupil may use challenging language and push boundaries.
