We are partnering with a well-resourced secondary school in Redbridge seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to support teachers and students across practical subjects. You’ll play a key role in ensuring lessons run safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
What you’ll be doing:
- Food Technology Support
- Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations
- Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage
- Maintaining hygiene standards across kitchens and equipment
- Supporting food safety compliance
- Textiles Support
- Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment
- Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons
- Assisting students with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing
- Organising and maintaining textile resources
- General Responsibilities
- Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons
- Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH
- Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas
- Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day-to-day department needs
- Creating a safe, positive, and well-organised learning environment
