Behaviour & Inclusion Support

North Kirklees

Start: Immediately | Full-time | Pay based on experience and qualifications

Be the one they remember. The calm voice. The steady presence. The person who makes school feel safe again.

We’re looking for Behaviour & Inclusion Support staff to join a specialist setting in North Kirklees. This is a place where young people who’ve been excluded, unwell, or let down by mainstream education get another chance. A proper fresh start. And that starts with you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting KS3 and KS4 students as they settle into a new environment
  • Working 1:1 or in small, close-knit groups
  • Helping young people who communicate differently or need clear structure to feel seen and understood
  • Staying grounded when emotions run high, showing there’s always a calm adult in the room

This isn’t about “managing behaviour”. It’s about understanding it.

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Stay calm when things escalate, you don’t take it personally
  • Understand that behaviour is communication
  • Believe every young person deserves a reset, not another rejection
  • Bring consistency, warmth, and clear boundaries

What you’ll need:

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or be happy to apply for one with us
  • Two recent references
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding
  • A big heart and steady presence

Why join Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella deductions or “mystery maths”
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy, including Team Teach and Thrive training
  • A dedicated consultant who actually listens and understands specialist settings
  • Roles where you’re part of the school team, not just filling a gap
  • Not Thrive trained yet? No problem. We’ll get you booked onto our FREE Thrive training so you can strengthen your toolkit and stand out even more.

This isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to change the trajectory for a young person who really needs someone in their corner. If that sounds like you, let’s talk. Apply now or drop us a message and we’ll chat it through.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants. We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service. Full assistance provided.
