Some days in school just need someone confident, calm, and ready to step in and keep everything moving smoothly. We’re working with a range of lovely primary schools across Leeds who are looking for experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HTLAs) to support on a supply basis. This is the kind of role where you’re trusted to walk into a classroom and make a real difference straight away — whether that’s leading a lesson, supporting learning, or giving teachers that extra bit of breathing space when they need it most. It suits someone who enjoys variety, likes meeting new staff and children, and feels comfortable taking the lead when needed, even if it’s just for the day.

You’ll often find yourself:

  • Stepping in to lead learning or cover classes when required
  • Supporting pupils one-to-one or in small groups
  • Helping create a calm, focused classroom environment
  • Working alongside teachers to keep learning on track
  • Being that steady, reliable presence children settle quickly with

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has HLTA status or strong classroom experience
  • Feels confident leading a class when needed
  • Builds relationships quickly and naturally
  • Is flexible and happy working across different schools
  • Brings a calm, reassuring approach to the classroom

What you can expect from Protocol Education: You won’t just be placed and left to it. You’ll have someone who actually gets to know you — what schools you enjoy, how you like to work, and what brings out your best. We’ll support you with regular work, honest communication, and access to CPD so you can keep building confidence and skills as you go.

  • Competitive daily pay (£95-£130)
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Ongoing support from your consultant
  • Free CPD and training opportunities
  • Flexible supply work across welcoming schools
