Protocol Education is currently seeking a proactive DT Technician to join a dynamic secondary school in Harrow. This is a fixed-term position starting immediately, offering a fantastic opportunity to work within a creative department that values innovation and practical skill-building.
The Role
In this role, you will be essential to the daily operation of the Design & Technology department, supporting students as they work with various materials, including wood, metal, and plastics, as well as modern CAD/CAM technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Workshop Maintenance: Ensuring all machinery, hand tools, and equipment are sharp, safe, and ready for use.
- Material Preparation: Preparing timber, metals, and acrylics for KS3 and GCSE projects.
- Classroom Support: Assisting teachers during practical lessons to ensure students are using equipment correctly and safely.
- Health & Safety: Conducting regular safety checks and maintaining a clean, organized environment in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Resource Management: Monitoring stock levels of consumables and assisting with the ordering of new materials.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is technically minded and comfortable in a workshop environment.
Skillset: Proficiency with workshop machinery (e.g., band saws, circular saws, pillar drills) is highly desirable.
Knowledge: An understanding of Health & Safety standards within a workshop or school setting.
Adaptability: Experience with 3D printing or laser cutting is a plus, but a 'can-do' attitude is most important!
Availability: As this is an ASAP start, we are looking for candidates who are either immediately available or on a short notice period.
