We are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist education setting in Gateshead. This provision supports children and young people who require a personalised approach to learning due to social, emotional and behavioural needs. You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils’ academic progress, emotional regulation and engagement in a calm, structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Assist with the delivery of personalised learning programmes.
- Support behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff.
Skills & Experience
- Experience working with children or young people in education or care.
- Understanding of SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable.
- Calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
