Protocol Education is recruiting experienced HLTAs to work within friendly and supportive primary schools across Gateshead .
This role would suit a confident Teaching Assistant who enjoys taking the lead, supporting teachers and helping pupils achieve their learning goals. You'll have the opportunity to work across different year groups and make a real contribution to the wider school community.
Role Details
- Full-time, Monday-Friday
- September 2026 start
- Term-time only
- Hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
- Long-term placements available
- Permanent opportunities may be available
Your day-to-day responsibilities
- Covering classes and delivering planned lessons
- Leading targeted interventions in phonics, maths and English
- Supporting pupils with SEND
- Providing constructive feedback on pupil progress
- Maintaining positive classroom behaviour
- Supporting teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
- Adapting your approach to meet different learners' needs
The ideal candidate
- Has HLTA status or significant equivalent experience
- Has previous experience working within a primary classroom
- Can confidently lead a class when required
- Demonstrates strong behaviour management
- Is adaptable and able to work across different year groups
- Is enthusiastic about helping pupils succeed
