Be the reason a child believes they can. Some children need a little extra support to thrive at school. Others need someone who understands that progress doesn't always look like a ticked box or a completed worksheet. We're looking for a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive school in Basildon, helping pupils with additional needs access learning, build confidence, and enjoy their school day. Whether you've worked in education, care, youth work, or a specialist setting, if you're patient, compassionate, and ready to make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH
- Providing one-to-one and small group support both inside and outside the classroom
- Helping pupils stay engaged with learning and develop independence
- Building positive relationships that encourage confidence and emotional wellbeing
- Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and wider support staff
- Creating a calm, nurturing environment where every child feels valued
What we're looking for:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, either in schools or other settings
- A calm, patient, and positive approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to adapt to different learning and behavioural needs
- A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential
Why you'll love this role:
This is more than a support role. It's an opportunity to be part of a child's journey, celebrating the small wins that often become the biggest breakthroughs. You'll join a school that values its support staff and understands the impact a great SEN Learning Support Assistant can have on a pupil's confidence, progress, and future.
