Some pupils need more support than others to get through the school day. We re recruiting Teaching Assistants to work in specialist education settings supporting children and young people with complex learning needs, communication difficulties and additional needs. It s a practical, hands-on role. You ll spend your day working closely with pupils, helping them access learning, communicate their needs, develop independence and manage situations they may find difficult. What does the role involve? You ll work alongside teachers and experienced support staff, with responsibilities including: Providing 1:1 and small-group support Supporting learning, communication and interaction Helping pupils develop independence and everyday skills Responding calmly when pupils become overwhelmed or distressed Following individual support and behaviour strategies Building consistent, positive relationships with the pupils you support Who could this suit? Previous SEN experience is valuable, but we re open to different backgrounds. You might already be a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, or you could have experience in care, support work, healthcare, youth work or residential services and be interested in moving into education.
