Behaviour & Emotional Wellbeing Mentor – Complex SEMH School – Epping | Immediate Start Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them overcome barriers to education? We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Epping that is looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Behaviour & Emotional Wellbeing Mentor to join their team immediately. This specialist setting supports pupils with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, attachment difficulties, anxiety, low self-esteem, and previous challenges within mainstream education. Some pupils may also have additional needs such as ADHD, Autism, speech and language difficulties, or other underlying SEND requirements. The school provides a structured, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment where building positive relationships is at the heart of everything they do. Staff work closely with pupils to develop emotional regulation strategies, improve resilience, build confidence, and help students re-engage with learning. As a Behaviour & Emotional Wellbeing Mentor, you will work both within the classroom and around the wider school, supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis. You will help manage challenging behaviours, promote positive choices, de-escalate situations when required, and act as a positive role model for students who need additional guidance and support throughout the school day. The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, youth work, care, or mentoring backgrounds Be patient, resilient, and confident in managing challenging situations Understand the importance of consistency, boundaries, and relationship-building Have a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils Be able to remain calm under pressure and adapt to individual student needs Be a positive team player with strong communication skills This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people who need stability, encouragement, and positive role models to help them succeed.
