Early Years Teaching Assistant - September Protocol Education Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne and Wear, England

Some little learners need a bit more time, patience, and understanding. That’s where you come in.

A welcoming primary school in Kenton, Newcastle, is looking for a resilient, caring Early Years Teaching Assistant to support children with high levels of need in a nurturing EYFS setting in September. This is a role for someone who stays calm under pressure, builds trust quickly, and knows that progress doesn’t always look the same for every child.

What your days will look like

  • Supporting children in Early Years with complex needs, both 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping children feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn
  • Using consistency, kindness, and clear boundaries to support behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team to adapt learning and routines
  • Celebrating the small wins, because they matter more than you think

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience supporting children with high needs, SEND, SEMH, or challenging behaviour
  • Is resilient, patient, and able to keep a steady head on tricky days
  • Understands Early Years practice and child development
  • Brings warmth, empathy, and a genuine love for helping young children thrive
  • Can be a reliable, positive presence in the classroom, even when things feel tough

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
