Early Years Teacher (Reception) Location: Croydon, Greater London, England Job Type: Contract, Full-Time Start Date: 12th October Industry: Education and Training Salary: £200 - £250 per day Benefits: PAYE Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Early Years Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Croydon from 12th October. This role will involve leading a Reception class, creating an engaging and stimulating learning environment, and supporting children in their early stages of development. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and be passionate about helping young learners develop socially, emotionally, and academically through a balance of adult-led and child-initiated learning opportunities. Key Duties and Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality learning experiences in line with the EYFS framework. Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment where children can thrive. Monitor, assess, and record children's progress through observations and formative assessment. Support children's communication, language, literacy, numeracy, and personal development. Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on pupil progress. Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other staff to meet the individual needs of pupils. Promote good behaviour and positive learning habits from the outset. Ensure safeguarding and welfare requirements are met at all times. Participate fully in staff meetings, training, and wider school activities. Contribute to the ongoing development of the EYFS provision within the school. Required Qualifications Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification. Successful completion of an Initial Teacher Training programme. Education and Experience Experience teaching within EYFS, ideally within a Reception class. Strong understanding of the EYFS Statutory Framework and Development Matters guidance. Experience planning and delivering engaging lessons and continuous provision opportunities. Ability to effectively support children with a range of learning and developmental needs. Knowledge and Skills Excellent understanding of child development and early learning. Strong classroom management and positive behaviour support strategies. Ability to create exciting and purposeful learning environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with children with SEND. Paediatric or Emergency First Aid qualification. Experience leading phonics teaching within Reception. Knowledge of assessment systems used within EYFS. Working Conditions Based within a supportive primary school in Croydon. Full-time role commencing on 12th October.
