What does a Cover Supervisor do?

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll step into the classroom when teachers are away, delivering pre-planned lessons and keeping pupils engaged throughout the day. There's no lesson planning or marking, just the opportunity to make a real difference while gaining valuable classroom experience.

You’ll be:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects
  • Managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive learning environment
  • Encouraging pupils to stay focused and complete their work
  • Supporting students with questions where appropriate
  • Building confidence and experience in a variety of secondary schools across Kirklees

We're looking for people who:

  • Have experience working with young people, either in schools or other settings
  • Are confident leading groups and communicating clearly
  • Can remain calm, organised and adaptable
  • Have strong behaviour management skills or are keen to develop them
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or are happy to apply for one
