Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with behavioural needs and helping them succeed in education? Protocol Education are working with a specialist and inclusive school in Newham who are seeking a Permanent Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who is resilient, confident, and committed to supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a positive and structured way.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting students with behavioural, social, and emotional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Using positive behaviour management strategies to promote engagement and focus
- Supporting pupils to regulate emotions and access learning
- De-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
- Supporting classroom routines and maintaining a safe learning environment
To be successful, you will need:
- Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs (SEMH desirable)
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience in education, youth work, sports coaching, care, or similar settings
