Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant | Gateshead | Full Time | September Start Do you have the confidence to make a difference? Protocol Education is working with a specialist secondary provision in Gateshead seeking a confident and personable Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, understands the importance of boundaries and wants to build meaningful professional relationships with students. The school has a calm, structured atmosphere and places significant emphasis on positive relationships, consistency and high expectations. Role Details Full-time September 2026 start Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm Term-time only Long-term opportunity Your responsibilities Supporting students with SEMH and behavioural needs Building positive relationships with students Supporting pupils in lessons Encouraging engagement with learning Promoting positive behaviour Reinforcing boundaries and expectations Supporting literacy development Helping students develop confidence and independence Supporting students during breakfast and lunchtime Working alongside teaching and pastoral staff The school also has a small twilight provision for students requiring additional support, and you may occasionally be involved in this provision. About you We're looking for someone who can confidently connect with young people without being overbearing. You'll need to be: Naturally personable Confident without being confrontational Patient and understanding Consistent with boundaries Resilient Proactive A positive role model Previous experience is beneficial but not essential if you can demonstrate the right attitude and transferable skills. Longer-term staff may also have the opportunity to access Team Teach training, supporting staff with de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
