Behaviour & Pastoral Support Mentor – Complex SEMH School | Immediate Start Are you passionate about supporting vulnerable children and helping them overcome barriers to education? We are working with a specialist SEMH school that is looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Behaviour & Pastoral Support Mentor to join their team immediately. This unique setting supports pupils with complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom have experienced significant trauma, adverse childhood experiences, attachment difficulties, and disrupted educational journeys. The school follows a trauma-informed approach, understanding that behaviour is often a form of communication and placing relationships, trust, and emotional wellbeing at the centre of its work. As a Behaviour & Pastoral Support Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will help students develop emotional regulation skills, build positive relationships, and re-engage with learning in a safe and nurturing environment. The role requires patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to helping young people achieve success. The school day runs from 8:00am to 4:00pm, and staff work closely together to provide consistent support and structure throughout the day. The ideal candidate will: Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour Understand the impact of trauma and be able to build positive, trusting relationships Remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations Be passionate about supporting vulnerable pupils to achieve their potential Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to join a supportive and experienced team, making a real difference to the lives of children who need positive role models and consistent support.
