DT Technician Start ASAP DBS on Update Service About the Role We are seeking a skilled and reliable DT Technician to join a secondary school’s Design & Technology department. The successful candidate will provide essential technical and practical support to teachers and students, ensuring workshops, classrooms and equipment are safe, well organised and ready for lessons. You will work across areas such as Design Technology, Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics and/or Engineering, depending on your experience. Key Responsibilities Prepare, maintain and organise DT classrooms, workshops, machinery, tools, equipment and materials for practical lessons. Provide technical support to teachers during practical lessons, helping students safely use tools, machinery and specialist equipment. Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed, including appropriate use of machinery, tools, PPE and workshop facilities. Maintain and repair equipment and carry out basic maintenance where appropriate, reporting more significant faults when required. Prepare and organise materials and resources for lessons, including wood, metal, plastics, textiles, electronics and other specialist materials. Support teachers with the preparation of demonstrations, practical projects, prototypes and student work. Keep workshops, storage areas and classrooms clean, safe, tidy and well organised. Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, receiving and storing materials and equipment. Support students in developing practical skills while maintaining a safe and positive working environment. Assist with the safe disposal and recycling of waste materials. Maintain appropriate records relating to equipment, maintenance, stock and health and safety.
