About the Role

We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Barnsley. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SEN team to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and develop their independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Assist pupils with their academic, social and emotional development.
  • Support children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, communication difficulties and learning needs.
  • Help implement individual learning and support plans.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and independence.
  • Support pupils during lessons, break times and other school activities.
  • Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents and other professionals.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Follow school safeguarding and behaviour policies.
