Do you have a calm, confident approach and a knack for bringing out the best in children who need a little extra support? We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 5 pupil who has social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and can display challenging behaviour. This is a full-time role in a warm and welcoming primary school in S72, where your support will make a real difference to one child’s school journey.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day
- Using de-escalation strategies to help the pupil regulate emotions and stay engaged
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning to meet individual needs
- Encouraging positive relationships, emotional resilience, and confidence in learning
- Supporting behaviour plans and contributing to a safe, structured environment
About you:
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, trauma, or challenging behaviour (school or alternative setting)
- Patience, empathy, and a positive mindset
- Thrive-trained or willing to complete Protocol Education’s free Thrive training (which schools love!)
- Resilient and ready to be a trusted adult for a pupil who needs one most
