Youth Worker – 1:1 Support for Permanently Excluded Students

Darlington | Part-time or Full-time | £20–£28 hourly pay (dependant on qualifications/experience) | ️ Ongoing

Ready to make a difference, one student at a time? We’re looking for a brilliant Youth Workers to support young people who’ve been permanently excluded from mainstream school. This is your chance to step in, show up, and help them find their spark again.

You’ll be working 1:1 with students, delivering face-to-face tuition in their homes or local libraries – building trust, boosting confidence, and helping them reconnect with learning. Every session is a fresh start. And every breakthrough? A big win.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting secondary-aged students with core subjects like English, Maths, and Science.
  • Building meaningful relationships that encourage growth and resilience.
  • Delivering lessons in safe, supportive spaces – think living rooms and local libraries.
  • Working closely with our team to track progress and adapt support.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with young people facing barriers to education (PRU, SEMH, Youth Work, Mentoring, or similar).
  • Calm, confident, and consistent. You bring the right energy into the room.
  • Strong communication and patience (the magic mix).
  • Able to travel across Darlington for in-person sessions.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
