Overview

Creative/Theatrical/Artistic Learning Support Assistant in a SEND school setting.

Protocol Education are looking to recruit a learning support assistant with a creative background to support in a SEND school in Witham. This role aims to bring creativity into the classroom to inspire and encourage SEND students.

The children you will be supporting have a variety of needs, including ASD, Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs (SEMH), complex learning disabilities, or may require behavioural support.

You will aid in daily classroom activities and use your creative background to uniquely support SEND children. You will provide 1:1 support and help create a positive learning environment. A friendly and positive approach to teaching and learning, with the ability to quickly build strong relationships and rapport with individual children, is important.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pupils with SEND, ensuring their safety and ability to access learning activities and understand the information presented.
  • Aid the execution of education plans suitable to each pupil’s learning objectives.
  • Build a trusting relationship with all pupils and communicate according to their level of understanding.
  • Promote class interaction and ensure pupils engage throughout the lessons.
  • Create an interesting environment for students.
  • Assist pupils with practical activities using a variety of teaching aids.
  • Look after children’s physical, social and emotional welfare.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working with SEND / Experience working with children
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • A passion for education and creating an environment in which students can improve their studies
  • The ability to use your creative nature to engage students, improve confidence, and positively influence a fun and supportive learning process

Your experience does not necessarily need to be in a school environment, but could include working or volunteering in youth groups, sports coaching, or after school clubs, among other roles.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
