Protocol Education is working in growing relationships with a number of secondary schools across Wells and the wider Somerset area, providing reliable Cover Supervisors and Unqualified Supply Teachers to support with staff absence and day-to-day cover. This role is ideal for people looking to gain classroom experience, build a career in education, or secure flexible work that fits around other commitments. Many of our Cover Supervisors go on to secure permanent school positions, teacher training places, and long-term careers within education. No previous school experience or teaching qualifications are required. Full training is provided free of charge before you start.
Due to the locations of our partner schools, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a vehicle, and be willing to travel to schools within a 35‑minute radius of their home.
The Role
- Supervise classes during teacher absence
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons and set work
- Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment
- Support students to stay engaged and on task
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
This is not a teaching role. You will not be expected to plan lessons or teach new content. The focus is on maintaining continuity of learning and ensuring classrooms run smoothly.
