Are you experienced in supporting children with SEMH and ADHD needs? We’re working with a welcoming mainstream school in Walington looking for a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide full-time, long-term support from September. This role would suit someone who understands the importance of building positive relationships, creating consistency, and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and/or ADHD and be confident using strategies to promote engagement, emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing targeted support to pupils with SEMH and ADHD needs.
- Building strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
- Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral teams to implement support plans.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Supporting pupils with social interactions, learning activities and transitions throughout the school day.
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to school staff.
We’re Looking For Someone Who
- Has previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH and ADHD.
- Has worked in a school, SEND, youth work, mentoring, care or similar setting.
- Is calm, patient and resilient.
