About the Opportunity
We are currently supporting a range of secondary schools across Wakefield who are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. These roles are ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access learning, build confidence, and achieve their potential in a mainstream or specialist secondary setting. The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to provide tailored support to students with a range of additional needs, which may include autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, or learning difficulties. Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN
- Supporting students to access the curriculum and remain engaged in lessons
- Assisting with behaviour support and emotional regulation
- Working alongside teachers to adapt learning materials and activities
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
- Supporting EHCP targets and contributing to progress monitoring
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students
