Sometimes, students just need a calm space and a caring face. We’re looking for a dedicated First Aid Room Operative to join a busy secondary school from September. This is a full-time role where you’ll be the first point of contact for students who are unwell, injured, or in need of support during the school day.
The role
You’ll be based in the school’s first aid room, providing immediate care and support to students while maintaining a safe, organised, and reassuring environment. This is a role where professionalism meets compassion, and no two days are ever quite the same.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing first aid to students and staff as required
- Assessing injuries and deciding on appropriate next steps
- Liaising with parents and carers when needed
- Maintaining accurate medical and incident records
- Managing medical supplies and ensuring the first aid room is well stocked
- Supporting students with ongoing medical needs during the school day
What we’re looking for
This role requires someone who is calm, capable, and confident in their decision‑making. You must have:
- A valid First Aid qualification
- Experience in a similar role, or working with young people in a care or school setting
You’ll also ideally have:
- Strong organisational and record‑keeping skills
- Confidence communicating with students, staff, and parents
- An understanding of safeguarding and student wellbeing
The kind of person who thrives in this role
You’re calm under pressure and naturally reassuring. You might be:
- A steady presence, even in busy or stressful moments
- Kind and approachable, helping students feel at ease quickly
- Practical and organised, able to manage multiple situations
- Discreet and professional when handling sensitive information
You’ll be someone students trust and staff rely on.
Why this role matters
For many students, a visit to the first aid room is about more than just a bump or bruise. It’s a moment to feel safe, supported, and looked after. You’ll play a key role in creating that experience every day.
