We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH provision in Shrewsbury, seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students facing emotional and behavioural challenges that affect their learning. These students may present with conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties, or oppositional behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, helping them to engage with learning and school life.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to follow Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other individualised learning strategies.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that supports the social and emotional development of every student.
  • Build positive relationships and act as a consistent, supportive presence in students' school experience.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a proactive approach in responding to day-to-day classroom challenges.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs, or a strong interest in working within the SEN/SEMH sector.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and making a meaningful difference in their educational journey.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of diverse learning needs.
  • The ability to follow and implement EHCPs or tailored educational strategies.
  • A resilient, adaptable, and professional attitude.
