Looking for a role where you can make a real difference before lunchtime? This one’s got your name on it. We’re working with a warm, community-driven primary setting in the Downend area, a place where children are encouraged to be kind, confident and ready to learn. It’s the sort of school where every child is truly known, where laughter and learning go hand in hand, and where values like respect, compassion and perseverance aren’t just words on a wall, they’re lived every day.

What’s the role? You’ll be supporting a Year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis, helping them feel safe, understood and ready to engage with learning. Your day will be a mix of:

  • Supporting in the classroom during lessons
  • Delivering tailored support outside the classroom when needed
  • Building a consistent, trusting relationship
  • Helping the child regulate emotions and access learning in a way that works for them

The pupil has SEMH needs and a diagnosis of autism, so calm, patient and emotionally attuned support is key here.

What’s the school like? Think inclusive, nurturing and big on belonging. Staff work closely together, pupils are encouraged to be independent and respectful, and there’s a real focus on helping every child grow into a confident, capable individual. It’s a place where:

  • Differences are valued and celebrated
  • Children are supported to develop resilience and curiosity
  • Relationships come first, always

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH and/or autism
  • A calm, consistent approach (you’re the steady hand in the room)
  • Someone who can build trust and read the room when things feel tricky
  • A team player who’s happy to muck in and support where needed

What you’ll get:

  • Weekly PAYE pay, from £14.30 per hour
  • A role where you’ll genuinely change a child’s school experience
  • Support from a consultant who gets what good support staff look like
  • Access to free CPD, including SEND-focused training
  • And if you’re not already Thrive trained, this could be a great next step, it’s a brilliant way to build your toolkit and schools love to see it.

If you’re someone who brings patience, warmth and a bit of quiet magic to the classroom, this could be a really rewarding fit. Fancy hearing more? Let’s have a chat.
