Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support within a KS1 classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with young children.
About the role: You’ll work alongside the class teacher to support learning, behaviour, and development across the classroom, helping pupils build confidence and independence.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Your day may begin by welcoming pupils into the classroom, helping them settle and feel ready to learn.
- Support small group activities in phonics, reading, and maths.
- Sit alongside pupils during lessons to reinforce understanding.
- Help manage routines and transitions.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, becoming a trusted adult.
What we’re looking for:
- A positive, patient, and proactive individual.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for working with children.
- Experience is helpful but not essential.
Working hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm, full-time, term-time only.
