We are recruiting a SEND Teacher for a specialist school in West Leeds, supporting pupils who need structure, trust, and a tailored approach to learning. The Role
- Plan and deliver lessons that are adapted to individual pupil needs.
- Support children and young people with ASD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex needs.
- Create a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment.
- Work closely with TAs, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff.
- Use flexible teaching strategies to support different learning styles and communication needs.
- Celebrate small steps of progress and help pupils build confidence and independence.
About You
- Hold QTS or have strong experience working in SEND settings.
- Are calm, patient, and adaptable.
- Build trust and positive relationships with pupils easily.
- Understand that behaviour is often communication.
- Are committed to supporting pupils in specialist, inclusive, or alternative provision settings.
Requirements
- QTS or equivalent experience in SEND education.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
- Confidence adapting lessons for a range of abilities and needs.
- A solid understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
