Protocol Education is working with a growing number of secondary schools in and around Taunton to support them with reliable, day-to-day classroom cover. We’re currently recruiting Unqualified Supply Teachers / Cover Supervisors to step in when teachers are absent and help keep learning running smoothly. Driving is required, as it expands your opportunities to connect with different schools. This role is ideal if you’re looking for flexible, rewarding work in education, whether alongside another role, studies, or other commitments. You can choose to work anything from 2 to 5 days a week, depending on school needs and your availability. This is a genuine entry route into education. You do not need previous school experience, teaching qualifications or specialist training. We provide all required training free of charge, plus ongoing support once you’re working in schools.

What is the role?

  • Supervise secondary classes in the absence of the class teacher
  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and set work (no planning required)
  • Maintain a calm, positive and safe learning environment
  • Support pupils to stay focused and on task
  • Follow school behaviour policies and routines

You are not expected to teach new content. Your role is to confidently lead the room and ensure pupils can complete the work that has already been set.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO CLEAR YOU

  • Passport
  • 2 proofs of address (e.g. full driving license, utility bill, council tax, P45/60)
  • CV covering 10 years of all work/education, with gaps accounted for
  • 2 years of references (including childcare if applicable)
  • OSPC if you lived overseas for 3 months or more in the last 5 years
