About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you may support pupils with a range of needs, including:

• Autism and ADHD
• Communication and interaction needs
• Social, emotional and mental health needs
• Moderate learning difficulties
• Complex and additional needs
• Speech, language and communication needs
• Challenging behaviour

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
• Help pupils access the curriculum and classroom activities
• Support communication, social and emotional development
• Follow individual learning and behaviour support strategies
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviour
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and resources
• Work closely with teachers and wider support teams
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 6 months' relevant UK experience working with children, young people or within an education/support setting
• Previous SEN TA, Teaching Assistant, LSA or similar experience
• SEND experience is highly desirable
• Experience supporting Autism, ADHD or complex needs is advantageous
• Patient, compassionate and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
